Going to medical appointments can be challenging for children with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). To help make these visits easier, debra of America is proud to offer a customizable social story designed to support children with EB in preparing for doctor visits and EB Clinic appointments.
What is a Social Story?
A social story is a simple, supportive tool designed to help children understand and navigate unfamiliar situations. Through short, clear sentences and comforting visuals, social stories break down the steps of an experience—like going to the doctor—so children feel more comfortable and prepared. For children with EB (Epidermolysis Bullosa), doctor visits can sometimes feel overwhelming. This social story aims to explain what to expect during an EB doctor's visit in a way that feels reassuring and manageable.
This EB Social Story was written by Laura Dellicker, MSW, LCSW for her son and generously shared with the EB Community, providing a comforting and educational guide to common medical visits for children with EB.
