debra created the Smile Fund to give individuals and families a break from the hardships of EB and bring joy in ways big and small. Whether it's meeting a hero, attending a special event, or receiving a meaningful gift, these experiences go beyond EB, and celebrate self-expression.
Emeryck’s Monster Truck Dream Come True
For Emeryck, a four-year-old with EB, monster trucks are everything. He falls asleep with one in his hand every night, dreaming of the day he could see them in action. Thanks to the Smile Fund, that dream became a reality! Emeryck and his family attended Monster Jam, where he saw his favorite trucks, Grave Digger and Zombie, up close. His mom shared:
"He was in such awe of the trucks and stadium. Seeing his excitement was priceless, and he still talks about it daily, recreating the tricks with his toy trucks. It truly was an amazing experience for all of us! He wanted me to tell everyone at debra that Monster Jam was the best, most amazing thing he has ever seen!"
Brooklyn’s Comfort During Wound Care
Baby Brooklyn, who has Junctional EB, received an iPad through the Smile Fund—a small gift that makes a big difference in her daily life. She loves watching Ms. Rachel during her wound and trach care, making these difficult moments a little easier.

Eli’s VIP Night with Elevation Worship
For Eli, living with Recessive Dystrophic EB (RDEB) means enduring wounds that never heal and feel like third-degree burns. Music brings him peace, so the Smile Fund gifted him VIP tickets to an Elevation Worship concert. He brought a friend and had a night filled with joy, music, and community.
